A platypus in a red gnome hat was not on my to-do list this morning. Then again, some of my favourite ideas begin with, “Ooh, what if…?” 🧡
I asked Sparky (ChatGPT) using a photo of me as a base, to dream up a mascot that felt like me, without giving any hints about what sort of creature it should be. The result was Pip the Possibility Platypus, my new cartoon sidekick.
Curious by nature. Detours by choice.
That little red hat is a nod to The Gnome That Inspires. The rest is pure Pip: bright-eyed, slightly mischievous and already pointing towards something just beyond the edge of the picture.
Platypuses don’t fit neatly into anyone’s expectations. Perhaps that’s why Pip feels at home beside me. In my Stretch-the-Box Thinking work, I’m often inviting people to pause before dismissing an unusual thought. What happens if we get curious about it instead?
Pip would probably ask the question, then wander off down a side path before we’d finished answering. 😄
I have a feeling this little character might pop up again, especially when I need a reminder to look up, notice what’s around me and make room for a possibility I hadn’t planned.
