Never Give Up

🌧 Rainy days, reflection, and rediscovering language

It’s just over a week until my surgery, and for the first time in many months, I’ve felt the gentle calling to reconnect with my German language studies….

After all, I want to be ready to return to my happy place when I can ….. Home is where your heart is and Köln/Cologne with its Dom/Cathedral has my heart ….. All roads lead to the Dom 🖤❤️💛

With the wet weather outside, I’ve been taking it slow — relaxing, doing a few language exercises, reading some Deutsch Perfekt magazines I picked up on my travels to Köln over the past couple of years, and diving into short stories like Ahoi aus Hamburg and Karneval in Köln.

I’ve also been enjoying a couple of my favourite German films — Bornholmer Straße and Goodbye Lenin.

I know my life is in transition at the moment, and the plans I once had will need to adapt moving forward. But as I sit here with my notes, tea, and a quiet sense of calm, I feel something else stirring — hope.

Hope that small steps still matter.
Hope that curiosity lights the way forward.
Hope that even when life pauses, learning never truly stops. 💛

What’s something you’ve recently felt called to pick up again — even in a time of change?
